I’m Alex Kos, the Founder of Instepper. Please take the time to learn more about Instepper.

Instepper is a soccer program that focuses on improving soccer fundamentals, helping raise money, and inspiring soccer young players to use soccer to invest their future, both on and off the field.

This is accomplished through the Instepper Mentoring Program. I work with all groups in the soccer community (teams, coaches, Clubs, schools, small businesses, etc), to establish a Mentoring Program that matches each groups’ unique goals and culture. (top)

Instepper Mentors are typically high school or college-age players that mentor younger players on soccer fundamental, starting with the first-touch. Mentors are players from individual teams, Clubs, and schools. Instepper does not supply or pay mentors. Mentees are typically younger kids from a Club or in the community. (top)

Special Offer for Roots Fans. Through the end of 2024, I will offer my time/services for free. I’ll come to a practice, join a board meeting, hop on Zoom, you name it. If there is interest, I will help establish a mentoring program, help fundraise, etc. Anything to help our young players improve on and off the field. Let’s talk. (top)

Instepper Swag

Smiley faces are used to teach/reinforce the proper first-touch mechanics. This Playlist has 4 videos that shows how to use these stickers. Or view videos individually: 1st (Before), 2nd (Inside), 3rd (Toe), 4th (After). Mentors (older players or parents), try it out with a young player. Make a own before-and-after videos. Refer to Heart & SOUL for more help.

Make a DIY tether device (you will need to get your own D-ring). A tether device is FUN and will help build/reinforce using the insides-of-the-feet. Check out these tether (and other) YouTube videos. (top)

The First-Touch is the most important fundamental skill in soccer. Players will never reach their full playing potential without a strong and confident first-touch (ball control). The sooner they learn, the better. But it is also never too late to learn. To better understand the importance of the first-touch, click here. (top)

The Instepper FUNdraising Model puts the onus on Mentors to raise money for their team, Club, or school. A FUNdraiser that is organized and promoted by Mentors, that provide a service for the Community, will likely to raise more funds, increase the number of repeat donors, and get more local families and businesses to be sponsors. Now for a Dose of Reality. Every player’s soccer career will eventually come to an end. Only a small percentage of players will college soccer. The Instepper Mentoring Program provides an opportunity for ALL high school-aged players, regardless of talent, to use their soccer passion and expertise to develop important soft skills (Communication, Innovation, Creativity, Emotional intelligence, Collaboration, Adaptability, Leadership, Time management, Work ethic, Listening, etc) that they can use when applying to college, in the workforce, and for the rest of their lives.

Tomorrow’s Leaders are the young kids playing soccer today. Instepper wants to give ALL players the opportunities to:

  • Improve on-the-field with better and more confident first-touches (and other fundamentals).
  • Develop valuable soft skills (Communication, Innovation, Creativity, Emotional intelligence, Collaboration, Adaptability, Leadership, Time management, Work ethic, Listening, etc) off-the-field (by becoming Mentors).
  • Help families, teams, Clubs, and schools raise money so that these players are able to enjoy all the benefits soccer has to offer.
